Default Dumb Luck and Good Neighbors

Yesterday my neighbor called and asked if I'd like some basswood cutoffs. A friend of his was stocking his woodpile and wound up with some basswood......sure, bring it over. I was expecting some log ends, maybe split, but with bark on, and unseasoned.

Today they dropped it off....hmmmm, all kiln dried, 2 year old, ripped to size. biggest is 9"x 20"x2" and the smallest is 6"x10"x2"! 18 pieces in all and all cut to 2" nominal thicness. Wow! To make matters even worse, he said as long as I can use it he'll drop more off later and he thinks he has some aspen just like this laying around!

Should take care of my carving supplies for a while. Think I'll have to carve them something.

Al
