Default Combined Hobbies - Carving and Gardening

Hello,

One of my most recent carvings combined my two favorite hobbies. Just can't beat growing your own carving materials!

For anyone just beginning carving. Keep an open mind toward your carving materials. A lot can be learned just by doing a simple carving like this one. Basically the same cuts, just different materials to carve.

Hope this sparks some ideas for all the carvers here!

Clinton

I too carve and garden. But... I get my fingernails so dirty in the garden I cant do carving until I get those nails totally clean again. LOL

I've caught myself carving faces in the potatoes when I peel them.. or wizards in the carrots. Now my zuccinni's will not be safe either.

Great idea.. really great wizard you got going on there.

Now heres a trick you may not know.. scrape one of those faces into your young pumpkins while they are still on the vine , and it will scar over as it grows. We used to do the grand kids names into them and at Holloween they'd get a pumpkin with thier names on them.

Neat Clinton, bet it's a big hit at picnic's and family dinners. I have a carver friend who carves faces in yams.
