Default carving kudzu?

can kudzu vine be carved? we have some that are 4-8" in diameter. very old vines. while I was out today looking for pine knot for someone on here, I looked at them carefully... some of them are huge and extremely long. are they worth trying? Anyone have experience carving them?

You could always try to carve some yourself. Then you'd know. I've never carved any. Seems like a vine like that might be kind of stringy?

I had some 4" vines on my property in western TN but 8" is HUGE! I was tempted to try carving them but never got around to it. For those of you who have not seen kudzu, it is known as the vine that ate the South! It can grow up to 12" per day and will cover and kill an entire forest if left alone. If you have purchased any "grapevine" wreaths lately, what you really got was kudzu vine. Do not let this stuff get loose on your property! It is virtually impossible to kill without very toxic chemicals.

our goats keep the kudzu at bay, but they don't eat the vines.

will any other animal eat that stuff? They should be able to make fuel with it or something. There is so much of it, it would keep us going for years. Supposedly it has a beautiful purple flower under the leaves. I'm just afraid it might eat me if I get too close.

It was originally introduced to the USA from Asia as possible fodder for livestock, but unfortunately, cattle wouldn't eat it and it's pretty much taken over the South.
If you listen real close, you can hear it grow.
