Default Carving bark with dental burrs?

Has anyone used dental burrs in a rotary carver to carve cottonwood bark? I am having difficulty getting the detail carved into the bark when I carve small pieces of the bark. Specifically the forehead wrinkles and eyes. Thanks, Tom H

Rick Jensen uses a Bobbi-T tool (available from the Woodcraft shop) to hold burs and he rotates them by hand to do some of that texturing. A pin vice would probably work as well...

Thanks Bob. I have a whole set of small chucked pin vises. Never though of doing it by hand...Maybe when my brain was younger I might have. Will give it a try. Tom H

Yes, both myself and my wife has used those type of burrs carving/sculpting in conttonwood bark. Watch closely as the speed of the burrs will eat up the bark fast.
I forgot to add, wear a mask while using the burrs.
