I have bought from several different places. By far the best most consistent wood is from Heineke wood. http://www.heineckewood.com/index.htm No association with them but I was tired of getting what you pay for..... Hard wood or like my last carving, wood that splits in two right after the carving was finished.Sad |

Carolina Carver, I was reading your link and saw some of your work and it is very good. I see you were also born in 59, What a great year. And also you have a weiner dog. Ours is about three and she has been the best dog we had ever had. I am in the middle of carving a weiner dog. Winter is coing back to the Northeast so I better go get the snow shovels out again. Thanks for your reply on the basswood. Take care! Steve phwoodcarvers@optonline.net |

It is and you can search back through other posts of the same nature, but perhaps more recent. Seems like the subject comes up every 2-3 months. I usually try to stock up on various sizes and types of wood while I'm at carving shows where vendors sell their wares. But have ordered by mail with good results. Try the following website and supplier--I've had really good luck over the years with Heinecke Wood Products I also like Krantz Wood Sales - Forest Lake, MN - I think both have websites or you can google Krantz for his contact info.
