You can steam them for about 30 minutes then bend them to just past straight hold them in that position until cold and there you are. To steam them, depending on how large an area your talking about, a pan filled with water over a hot plate works. Build a 'tent' out of aluminum foil to cover the area of the stick you want to steam. Once steamed, quickly put the stick into the crotch of a tree or something else to hold it, bend the stick and hold it until cold. Kind of sketchy. For further info a google search on 'bow making' might prove fruitful.

Dan, one of the neat things about working walking sticks, is incorporating the bends and twists into the design and carving. Keep turning that stick over in your hand until you find the right position to hold it in.....makes for a more interesting stick.

IMHO

Hi folks, Thanks for the info on bending walking sticks. As soon as I can get out into my shed to work, (too cold now) I am sure going to try it. Iv'e got around 5 sticks carved out and with all that work done already I wouldnt want to throw them away. Thanks again for the info.........Dan.......
