Default Basswood in SW Missouri

I got an email from Dale and Marge Heinecke reminding me that they would be at the Silver Dollar City - Ozark Mountain Woodcarvers Seminar next week. It is an excellent opportunity for those within driving range of Branson to acquire some wonderful northern basswood blocks. It is not often that we, woodcarvers, have an opportunity to select the pieces of wood we want from thousands of blocks.

You do not have to be a participant in the Seminar to purchase wood. The one hitch is in getting to the carving buildings. You must park in a parking lot near the entrance to Silver Dollar City. Buses are provided (free) to shuttle folks back and forth. BUT, my understanding is that they do not run through the middle of the day. Arrangements can be made through one of our club members to get folks back to their vehicles during this period.

The Heinecke's will have the wood laid out and ready for sale on Thursday morning, continuing through the day and on Friday. Buses start running around 8am. The opportunity to buy carving blocks is provided as a service to woodcarvers. Ozark Mountain Woodcarvers do not benefit financially from this sale. We do like to see a lot of wood sold as it insures the return of Dale and Marge and the opportunity for carvers to continue taking advantage of this opportunity.

A reminder to those putting in an appearance; I will be carving with Marlen Downing in the power carving building. Be sure and stop by and let's meet in person. Rick Jensen is also in this building.
