Default Basswood lot I won from ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I just got this on Thursday, had to go to the post office to pick it up. My back is still hurting from carrying that d@mn3d box. I'm going to have to use my neighbor's table saw to mill the larger pieces into sizes I commonly use, but I should be busy carving for a few months.

shipping was $17.35, plus $.65 for delivery confirmation, and the seller charged a $2 handling fee. $20 total shipping.

What a great way to start the day.....fresh wood! We sound like a bunch of beaver at a beaver social!! Good looking wood, just a nice size too. Congratulations.

Nice line in just another typical day in the life of a woodcarver! At work I'm afraid that both staff and client alike see me as somewhat eccentric...off-balanced...errrr, or just some degree plain crazy when it comes to my obsession with wood.

Heck, I can't help it that I really never have met a piece of wood that I didn't like! It's nice to see some of "my kind" here on this message board.

Thanks for understanding.

some of the bigger pieces look like they've just been quarted, so I may try doing a woodspirit with one of those. I'll probably cut some smaller pieces to workable sizes this week and start doing some stuff. I bought the "Carving Caricature Pins & Bolos" and "Carving Folk Figures" books through the web-only clearance sale that FCP did about a month or so ago.

I see this seller has a lot of wood that appears to be reasonably priced.

Have you laid a knife to it yet? How is the quality of the wood?
