| | Re: Basswood Log Hi_Ho,
I've never seen it at Ace or Home Depot. Don't have a True Value near me. It sells on ebay, but it seems they gouge on shipping. Every place else I found on the web wanted more than Highland Hardware ($14.99 per gallon, $54.99 for 5 gallons which comes in 5 one-gallon cans) plus actual shipping. I go for the 5 and usually have it in 2 days!
It's sure kept my oak bird chairs from cracking or checking, and they were very green when I started.

I'd think that'd work great on a stick end. It might work ok on a wet-green log too, I don't know.

Wade | There is a spray sealer ad well. Probable cheaper then buying a can of the anchorseal and having it go to waste. I had mine anchorseal ..sealed lol and it went to a cottage cheese look. I might be able to get it back the way it was. |

| | Re: Basswood Log here is a site for ancor seal http://www.tools-for-woodworking.com...OD&ProdID=1760
I would suggest you ask if it has a anti-freeze in it as well. Companies that sell anchorseal from the south dont have it in it. Us cold bloods would need it. Just some information to know. |

| | Re: Basswood Log Ron,
That link sells Anchorseal for $14.49 a QUART!!! Highlands sells it for $14.99 a GALLON! They want $44 a gallon, Highlands wants $54.99 for 5 gallons. Big difference! Maybe their catalog is a mis-print, but I've bought probably 15 gallons from Highland and their price is right!
Mryooper,
That link is to Highland Hardware, where I buy my Anchorseal! It's printed small up top when you go to the link. We're on the same page!
Wade

| | Re: Basswood Log I have heard using a wax seal for toilets, new of course, is a cheap and easy way to go. I sealed the ends of some aspen I cut this spring, the carving wood looks good, the burning wood looks just about ready to burn.
By the way, I tried pentacryl on one whole peeled piece, and I don't know that I would recommend it. It feels funky and changes the color of the wood.
