Default Basswood grove

I have a stand of Basswood trees that need to be cut down. Any market out there for this wood, as it will otherwise go to the chipper.. (located just west of Albany NY)

some are larger than my arms can go around, most are maybe 12-18"..not sure on the count... there must be at least a couple of dozen. It sits on about 30 acres, but we only need to cull the ones in the way of a house lot and very long driveway. I can get a better count in a few days. I'll see if I can get any photos if that will help

Do have any pieces 3"-5" around and about 1 - 2 feet long?

Just a thought...call a couple of mills around there. My guess is that you might be able to get more money than you would get for chips. Basswood is in demand for more than just carving. And if you have a large quantity and large logs, it might worth the time to make a few calls.

Logs that size have to be more valuable than chips.

There has got to be a market for the logs. Just has to be, I hope. Anybody over your way building log homes? They may have portable gear even as small as Alaska Chainsaw Mills.
If not, I'd guess they know who does. Good Luck.
95% of all the pine up here has been killed by bugs = standing, dead and cracked, split.
Not worth the gas to cut them down. The industry mentality is 2x4 or chips, the cedar gets crushed for post & rail fencing. The only cedar lumber that I have seen cut here in the past 10 years came from logs too big to go through the crusher! (What did the sawyer do? 4x4 fence posts.)

Final survey... Ten trees, 12-18 diameter and 50-60 feet tall. They can be felled, cut to requested length and stacked to wait for pick up. Mills nearby not interested, and I can only carve so much
