| | wood sealer What do most of you use for a wood sealer? I have been using clear acrylic sealer by patricia nimock in a spray, but would like a brush on sealer that would maybe be a little cheaper. thanks ![003[1]](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/003[1].gif) |

| | Re: wood sealer I use the MinWax Sanding Sealer also. Only down side is I usually need to wait a week for the thing to dry sufficiently that most of the stuff has evaporated and it doesn't smell so bad. Maybe not necessary to wait, but it works for me.

| | Re: wood sealer I use a number of applications. I use tung or linseed in the initial stage to start the sealing process, I then use deft clear satin sealer (in the can or spray), and lastly a dark satin wax. I use others at times but this is my staple sealers.

| | Re: wood sealer I bounce back and forth between a 50/50 solution of lacquer sanding sealer & lacquer thinner and at other times a satin gel varnish thinned to the consistency of milk with paint thinner. I also have on accasion used Deft.

| | Re: wood sealer I learned long time ago that all those advertised Watco,Danish,Sanding Sealer etc.you can make yourself: 1 part Poly,1part BLO,1part Mineral spirit.
I use it as Sealer, wipe on varnish almost to the end for finishing, I even have tinted it. The only time I don;t use it when I want the wood to stay white .like Poplar or Birch.
