Default Wax

Has anyone used Briwax as a finish over acrylic paint? Is there a chance that it soften the paint and make it run?

manteo,

i used bri-wax one time and it darkened the carving really bad. it may be best to use watco satin wax, i use the dark and natural cutting the dark with the natural this seems to give a satin finish rather than a high gloss you may get with the bri-wax.'

hope this helps

Ceramcoat makes a really nice matt finish water base varnish that I have been using for many years. You apply it going in one direction, not back and forth with the brush....that would make tiny bubbles in the finish. This product dries very fast which is also nice. It will not change any colors of paint or darken with age either.

The main draw back is that you should work slowly and carefully to avoid the bubbles but I love it. It is for indoor use only though. Not for use on outdoor things.
Good luck finding something that works for you.
