Default waterproofing?

I want to build a shelfing system for shampoo in a mobile pet grooming trailer, but I don't want it getting moldy and ruined because of all the water that will hit it all the time. What should I do about protecting it? I was looking at a 1"x12"x4' piece of pine that is made of several smaller pieces glued to each other....laminated pine they called it? Someone mentioned sealing it. I wanted to paint it white, like the rest of the interior. Do I "seal" then paint? or the opposite? What with?
thanks!

Try a pollyurethane basedpaint. I think you can get it in white. If you can't find that, a couple good coats of a high gloss enamel paint should do it. Paint all surfaces including those that will fit up against the wall. Don't forget to seal any screw holes as well. Water will get into those and damage the wood over time.

You might better try going with an exterior stain than a paint. These have a built in "waterproofer" and I belive I've seen that in white. By going this route you eliminate a lot of blistering that is apt to occur with paint in a very damp environment.
