| | What type of pen? I just finished a carving and rather than pay big $$ for a name plate I'd like to letter the base (to detailed for me to burn). The question is what type of pen would you use that would be permanent and wouldn't tend to run?
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks |

| | Re: What type of pen? You can use a fine point "sharpie" but put your finish on first, I have noticed Deft will cause the sharpie ink to blur if I put the ink on first. Not sure about whether poly would do that or not? |

| | Re: What type of pen? A sharpie will not write over a BLO finish very well so I use that before finishing. It does go well over top of a poly finish.
The Staedler works well also.
I believe it really depends on the type of finish that you plan on using. Some inks are water based and others are solvent and that should dictate which to use. I would recommend using a practice piece first - it would not hurt just to be sure. |

| | Re: What type of pen? My local Michaels had both brands, went with the Staedtler as I could get 4 different widths for a reasonable price. I'll let you know how it works out... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
