Default Tung and teak oil

I would like to know your opinion about using this finish on a walnut carving.

Don't know about walnut but it looks right nice on oak. I used it to finish a coat rack. It darkened the wood slightly and really brought the grain out. You could always do a test piece if you have any walnut scraps.

Tung oil is my favorite for Walnut. It allows the wood to show thru without looking like a finish. If you have a piece that allows it , I recommend wet sanding with tung oil and 400 grit (or smoother) , it fills the grains and really makes it smooth with an invisible finish.

I never coated oak with tung oil , but will give it a try ! I have a walnut carving I have to finish and I had two different finishes in mind : Danish oil or tung oil . Wet sanding with tung oil is a great technique !

Thank you very much , Nick
