Default Re: Sanding the Low Spots? Help!

Vic, I agree with bandiad. I also had a lot of trouble when I was a beginning carver with rough areas and fuzzies ( by the way I have recently promoted myself from the beginning ranks to idiot carver). Really small areas try rolling some fine sandpaper into a long cone and sand with the small end,be inventive Ive glued sandpaper on hacksaw blades and used the teeth of hacksaw blades as mini scrapers. However the thing to strive for as you carve is to watch for the causes of the stray cuts and eliminate them. I had the darnedest time learning to watch my entire length of my knife blade as I used it,it's awfully easy to make two cuts when you only wanted one. Arnie

Hi Vic, You didn't say if you had a Dremel Tool, but if you do I find that 3M makes small Bristle Disks that you use with a Dremel tool. I find that they do a very good job. I think that will give you the finish that you are looking for. The tip for using is to run it as slow as the Tool will go. If you run it fast it will not last very long. Yes to your . Watco Wax, Acrylic paint, Polyu, then Feed-n-Wax. Merle
