OK, I’m using Delta Ceramcoat colors and want to get a really nice caucasian skin color, any ideas on what colors to mix? I've tried several different mixes but have not got what I want yet and any input can only help me. Also what mix can I use for the lips, I want them to look as real as possible. Thanks, Brian

For my flesh tones I use Delta Ceramcoat FLESHTONE #02019, straight from the bottle. For CHEEKS AND LIPS I mix Fleshtone with a dab of CORAL # 02044. For my Santas it seems to work OK, but I don't know how it would work for a, say, lumberjack or surfboarder, who would have a darker skin tone. I "think" I'd try mixing in a tiny dab of raw sienna or burnt umber and see what happens.

the fleshtones i use are for caricatures but they seem to work pretty good not sure if this will help but here it goes i use ceramcoat medium flesh and ceramcoat dark flesh. i squeeze a little med flesh in the tray and then add about 2 dots of the dark flesh not to much or it will be to dark unless you want a flesh that looks like it is suntanned then you can add or subtract the dark flesh. i then add about 3/4 to 1 teaspoon of water. and mix then apply while this is still wet or damp i also have some very thin tomato spice that i use for a blush on cheeks, nose, ears also i apply this to the bottom lip and dab with a paper towel. now when i paint i paint in thin washes and mostly only use one coat so when the paint has completely dried i dunk the carving in linseed oil mixture and let sit and soak as much of the oil it will this will really make the flesh look more realistic, well this is the way i do it hope it will be of some help to you. |

what Nancy said on the Delta Ceramcoat Fleshtone. However, I water it down quite a bit and for lips and cheeks, I add a pink to it. Pravtice on a scrap piece and make the scrap piese the same as you carving meaning prepare it the same way as to get the same effect. But then, I am not the best painter around. Houses either!
