I have two pairs of c-boots, one for riding and one for Church. I have two pairs of work boots, one for working and one for going to town with the wife. If you're looking for Imelda Marcos around our place you won't find her.

Here's a list of the paints I've been using for all my carvings over the years.

Red Iron Oxide
Yellow Ochre
Moroccan Red
Midnight Blue
Navy Blue
Forest Green
Raw Sienna
Raw Umber
Burnt Umber
Dark Grey
Mudstone
Goosefeathers

Black & White
Gold & Silver

Sure, you'll find other colors on my table but I very seldom use them. Like most artists, I've developed this palette over the years and it's one of the reasons the paint jobs on my pieces is consistant.

BobL, trust me, you wouldn't be disappointed in my carving tool collection, knives perhaps, I do only own a few and they are all Dave Lyons brand, I find a few of those are all I need!! Now tools and gouges are a different story! I need lots of different sizes of gouges! And if it's electrical carving equipment, I believe in the 'must have two, in case one quits working' theory!

Bart, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to see a picture of your paint rack. Please post one!

Thomp, thank you for providing the link to yours! I knew I'd seen something like that somewhere but couldn't remember where. I'm going to be checking that size crates out when I got shopping this week.

It would work for what Susieq said, if you put the bottles in backwards to keep the paint up at the lids. Also, if you just took a second each time you bought a bottle to put the color name on the top or bottom, whichever you prefer, you'd always be able to see at a glace which color it was!

Lynn, you're just like my hubby, couple pair of boots, dress shoes, sneakers, that's his entire 'shoe' wardrobe. I don't understand it anymore than he understands why it takes me longer than the ten minutes it takes him to get ready to go somewhere! Deborah

It takes you women longer cause you first have to get us guys organized on what clothes to wear!!! When's the last time your husband said "How do I look Honey?" We don't have to ask......you've already made that decision for us!!!

Thomp....did you put something in the middle of those boxes to keep the paint bottles from sliding into the center?

Guess my little bride don't care how I look as she has never laid out my clothes. But then I don't either.

no kenny,
i didnt...
but there is a lazy susan bering attached to the bottom of the rack,
the bottles fit firmly in the grate and hang in the sides of the crates

the room inside the crate can be filled with tape or the lesser used items like snowtex or seasonable things less used like glues and clutter-junk we just have to keep close to the work station

if you build tall you have to keep an eye on balance if you use more than 5 racks

I figured out it was best, in my case, to make a simple rack for holding the bottles much like Wood-Wittler discribed. I used scrape pressboard that was laying around the shop and glued it together after cutting the shelves to size. It probably didn't take me over two hours of time but the project spread over several days waiting for the glue to dry.
The attached picture should show you what I did. I need to get with Lynn's plan and reduce my number of bottles to 15. I had 4 bottles that wouldn't fit in the rack!
