Unhappy ornament finish

Hey all a question on finishing Christmas ornaments. My wife collects the ceramic ones and also loves the ones I carve. Questions is on some of the older ceramic ones there is a milky semi clear finish that she would like on the wooden ones. I've tried several coats of poly, varnish and whatever else I can think of but to no avail. Any suggestions.

Try Mod Podge or Liquidtex Matte Medium.

Yep, Lynn is correct on the Mod Podge, Will leave a milky shiny finish. Never used the liguidtex stuff so can't say on that one. None of the other sprays or paint ons will give what the Mod Podge will. Can get the Mod Podge at any Hobbie/Craft stores and Wal Marts did carry it but notice on their revamped stores less craft area which means less caraft products. Rumor has it that in "08 they plan to eliminate all of their material areas.
