Default Re: How to kill your paint brushes.

Since this post closed in July I have added to my paints, bought some select and proper brushes per your advice, set up a painting area and done a lot of practicing. I actually am painting some of my carvings and enjoying it. Again to all who posted here and expecially Dileon for her post, thank you for helping me to get started painting my carvings.

DiLeon has some wise words. Even more valuable when you don't want to kill off a very good (= expensive) brush.
When I started in watercolor, I was told to presoak my brushes in plain water for 20 minutes. That saturates the ferrule so less paint gets up there. Same for acrylics or any water-soluble paints or finishes. Hot water and hand/bar/bath soap for clean-up. So far, so good.
