| | Feed N' Wax Has anybody used Feed N' Wax ? Ordered a bottle from Smokey Mtn. Tried Briwax but, wasn't happy with the way it changed the paint colors. Any comments would be welcome. |

| | Re: Feed N' Wax butch,
i use it as a final finish on my caricatures and santas. i use it after i have painted and sealed the peice with antiquing{linseed oil and burnt sienna}
lettting it sit for a day or after antiquing then putting a coat of the feed-n-wax on it and letting that sit for a about 5 minutes or so and buffing with an old t-shirt and a horsehair shoe shine brush to get it out of the creases where it has gathered up.
hope this helps if not just holler

| | Re: Feed N' Wax it is made by howards, it is called howards feed and wax it is made up of orange oil and caranuba wax, it is a good final coat for carvings, it protects those that will be handled and makes it easier to dust them also.

p.s you can buy a bottle from smokey mountain woodcarvers that will last a long time. |

| | Re: Feed N' Wax I've been using Bri-Wax for a few years to finish my natural, wood-finish carvings and haven't noticed any darkening with the clear wax. I use the antique mahogany Bri-Wax over tung or Watco oil on my mahogany carvings, and it does add color to the oil finish. I haven't tried the clear wax on a painted carving and maybe the darkening is more noticeable on a painted surface. Do you see the darkening on a natrual wood finish? Mike |

| | Re: Feed N' Wax Hello, I carve soem cedar and also bark, I use it alot and love it. On bark and cedar it keep the wood finish form being too dark. I also got mine from Smokey Mts.

| | Re: Feed N' Wax I bought some at the Charlotte show from the guys at Smokey Mtn. and Bart told me if you run the bottle under warm water for a little while it will soften it up where it can be brushed on easily. I plan on using it on some Gary Falin roughouts that I purchased at the JC show. Let me know how it works for you Butch!

| | Re: Feed N' Wax I got some from Smokey Mtns also, but haven't used it yet. I haven't used it because I heard a recommendation somewhere that it's not a good idea to put wax on as a final finish because dust tends to stick to wax.
Love to get some feedback on what others who have been using Feed N' Wax for some time think about this.
