Good luck.
Not in this household they don't SusieQ, English Bulldogs reign supreme here!

This guy, Bogie was our first more than 30 years ago and just to keep it on topic he was considered a brindle.

And today they still reign supreme with Cooper, a 1-1/2 years old Bully ...ever so slightly a brindle!Smile

Cheers

Hi Bart,
here are a couple of pics of our current boxer, Butchie. He is 85 lbs, 7 years old and still crazy like a puppy.

Gord!!! I still say boxers rule, but you have hit close to my heart..... I bred and showed English bulls for many years. One of my guys was the #10 bulldog in the country back in 1988..... Bullwrinkle's Chris Kringle was born on Christmas eve..... I love the breed. How old is your baby?

You probably already know these things but watch them in the heat. They can go down real fast in high temps. Also, they do not swim. Some might manage a weak dog paddle for a few minutes but ultimately, they drown if they get into water over their heads.

He looks like a great dog. Brindle refers to the colored part. Your Bogie was brindle and white. My first female was the same color. Piebald? some call it.

Wow 85 pounds.........I wish my boxer would gain that much weight, he eats like a bear and gains no weight. And I agree Boxers are the best.....

Love the pics...............

Hi SusieQ, Cooper was 10 months old in the picture posted, he's now 18 months old.
Yep we keep a close watch on the temperature thing, with the size of heads these guys have no wonder swimming is dangerous to their health, bottoms up!
We also have one other Bully, Lucy, a 7 year old female.
Cheers
OG

Gord,
at shows, all the handlers/owners, kept a cut lemon in their cooler ringside. If a bully went down in the ring (summer shows, they went in the ring early morning but sometimes the heat still got them) you would see half a dozen people with cut lemons in hand, running for the ring. Squeeze the cut lemon down the throat of a downed bully and and they will frequently come around.

It seems that the heavy panting in the heat, will sometimes cause the throat to close up, cutting off air to them. The fresh lemon juice causes the swelling to go down very quickly, allowing them to breath again. Standard first aid kit for bully owners..... Also, they frequently are born with an elongated pallate, which hangs over the windpipe (due to their pushed in faces). Very hard panting will cause the end of the pallate to be sucked down on the windpipe, cutting off air. A vet used to working on bulldogs (and that is important...choosing a vet that a show breeder uses) can do a simple surgery to snip the end of the pallate off so that it cannot block the windpipe. But bulldogs require a LOT LESS anesthesia than other dogs the same weight. No matter what you are having done with your bulldog, choose your vet very carefully..... too much anesthesia has killed many a bully...
Long live your bullies.

Simplyme,
Our first boxer weighed 78 lbs most of his life. Our second, weighed about the same....our third, a large white male, died young, of cancer. But at 4 years old, he weighed 85 and would have hit 90 by age 5, if he had lived. He had a huge frame and was very lean.

Our current pup (age 7) will never grow up...thinks he is 7 months old.
Everyone of our dogs has been the family guardian. Love everyone, but God help you if they think you are a danger to any of their people...... great kids dogs too.

I agree 100%.....they are great with kids, My niece who is 2 years old comes over and Linkin if very gentle with her. He is my pride and joy such a wonderful dog. I've had dogs before but they tended to run wild on me and I could never keep then indoors. Linkin I could leave him indoors for a full day(not that I would, he goes with me everywhere) and I'm sure I get back and everything would be were they belong and no mistakes on my floors.

Boxers rule.

P.S. I'm looking to get him a mate(he was adopted thru a rescue) but do not want to bring in another dog and have him have a bad influence on Linkin.
