Default Deft Satin finish coat

Question When finishing an animal carving with Deft Satin spray, do you spray over the eyes or do you cover them with something?

I cover the eye with a small piece of the blue painters tape, doesn't leave residue on the eye...........

Try non-drying modelers clay....easy on....easy off...a small amount molds itself to the eyes.

It can also be used to fill the eye cavity to ensure the eyes are "lined up" correctly.

Jax.

Those are both great ideas, I'd never have thought of them! I always end up putting another light coat of the Treasure Crystal Cote on the eyes, this is going to be a much easier solution! Thanks! Deborah

If you are using taxidermists' glass eyes, you can do what I've done.....I made a copy of a #11 ExActo blade from copper sheet and sharpened it just like the Xacto blade. I spray the clear finish right over the eye, then when it's dry, scrape the poly, Deft, etc, off with the copper blade. It's plenty hard enough to remove the finish, but softer than the glass so it absolutely will not scratch the eye.

actually those large hole single paper punches are just about right for most eyes, just punch a piece of tape and put the knockout over the eye......easy, thats what I like LOL

Thumbs Up Thanks for all the ideas!! I think I'll try the hole punch (Hi_Ho Silver, I like easy, too!!) first and see how it works out.
