| | colors for blond hair I'd like to know what paint colors have been used to create realistic looking blond hair. My selections have looked too yellow and fake. Please include the brand and color name, especially if you use several to create highlights. Thanks! |

| | Re: colors for blond hair Experimenting with different colors of yellows thin down with white? Maybe a darker base coat then a wash with the color over that. Actually, In all of the human realistic bust carvings, I haven't seen a natural hair color. I suggest experimenting. |

| | Re: colors for blond hair I use Yellow Ochre for blond hair. Like Kenny said, I thin it, put on 2-3 layers. When dry, I usually drybrush with some Cad Yellow light and even some off white (cream or dirty white) to give some highlights like sun shining on it.

| | Re: colors for blond hair A trick I learned from painting pewter minis, was to base coat in yellow, then wash in either Windsor & Newton Nut Brown Ink and sometimes a Chestnut, or similarly orange hued ink wash, either the above mentioned brand or from Games Workshop at your local hobby store.
Hope that helps, and oh yeah, after it all dries, you can still dry brush or pick out highlights with your original yellow paint. |

| | Re: colors for blond hair I always underpaint such colors with yellow ochre. Check out the blond in the Auctioneer sceen on my blog. I did a ochre base, then mixed in white with a touch of asphaltum, a rich brown. Worked out pretty good.
As with all blonds.........don't forget to paint the roots dark brown!!! |

| | Re: colors for blond hair Hi Paul.
Sometimes I use nothing at all on bass wood. I just use a clear finish for blonde hair. If you are just tinting the wood, this looks very natural and the wood its self supplies the hi-lites for the hair. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
