Default buffing polyurenthane

Is it possible to buff out a semigloss finish that has been steel wooled back to the semigloss? If so , how?

I thought I had a great smooth semigloss finish but ...
I had a couple little imperfections that I need to steel wool out. Once I do that it will be smooth as glass but wont have the semigloss sheen.
Can I ever get that back by wet sanding with 600 grit or buffing with cloth head on my buffer or what?

Panicking cause the auction is tomorrow.

Try a light coat of clear Minwax finishing wax...should then buff up nicely with a soft terry cloth or diaper.

Most semi gloss is made by having minute particles in it that break up the light so it doesn't reflect in one direction,,once the light is dispersed it doesn't look as glossy. In other words the shine doesn't come from the surface,,it comes from the particles under the surface not an irregular surface. If a semi gloss is applied properly,,the surface should end up perfectly smooth. It may look more glossy,,,but it will look as a semi gloss should look.I buff mine regularly with an electric buffer,,auto compounds,,and cleaner waxes which are different than regular waxes.
If you don't like the final finish,,you can adjust that as well with super fine steel wools or even very fine scotch brite type pads. Most everything can be adjusted.
