Default Buff/polish with a flap sander

Hello all,
I have a 1 Hp Craftex flap/drum sander combo (see: Buy Craftex Sander Pneumatic Drum and Flap - B2354 from Busy Bee Tools ). Every time I use the flap sander I imagine it rigged up with cloths (denim maybe) instead of sandpaper flaps and using it to buff wax. Has anybody ever seen a flap sander like this one used in this way?

Any thoughts?

Can you fit a felt polishing wheel on that tool?

Hi,
I am looking for one that might fit. There is nothing from the manufacturer. I think I'll have to be "resourceful" to fit one. They all seem to be made for disk-type tools. Like buffing disks - what I would need is a buffing drum for this. Seen anything that might work?

I've seen felt wheels that might have had a 1/4" shank, maybe 6-8" diameter.
What does your machine have? a collet/chuck that might hold 1/4"?

"Buffing Drum." Hmmmmm there's a dang good idea. Carpet/rug glued on and stuffed with polishing compound, maybe? Carpet is durable and rough.

How about stacking several buffing wheels side-by-side?

OK! So now you're thinking what I'm thinking! What about Denim flaps backed by the brushes (see the link)? At 1 HP, 1700 RPM. Same as the sand paper, except Denim. I'm gonna try it. I'll keep you posted.

hmmm Carpet eh?
