sounds familiar! I carved for 35 years or so before getting into carving.....having a hard time getting back to painting....carving is addicting!

To finish, I sealed it with shalac, added (1) coat of Watco (dark) 50/50 thinner. than (4) coats of wax, buffing between each coat. The photo's are not the best and don't realy show the true colors. My brother likes it, that's the main thing. I had fun doing it, I'll do a few more before I tackle mine. LOL. If anyone can suggest a better way of finishing, I'd appreciate it.
