Default Black Walnut Finish

I'm just finishing up a carving of a Trout in the reeds in Black Walnut, I want to keep the the natural look of the grain, but want a wet look. Is there a type of wax that can do this? I made several searches on this site, not finding anything I'm looking for. Any suggestions would be helpful.

thank you

Bruce

Bruce is it inside or outside ?

Inside I wouldn't use wax, I would use clear danish oil topcoat. It will finish a gloss shine and keep the richness of the wood showing.

Outside , Blo.

Outside of that just a good paste floor wax.

Natural should be fine , it usally has a tint of some type added, like a light brown , which can change the tone of the the finish .

The clear topcoat Olympic Antique danish oil has a slight shade of red that will enhance the shadows, then should give a deep rich surface for you.

Thanks again, I will get some danish oil, but will try both. I suspect the main ingredient is elbow grease, polishing the piece with some very fine sand paper.
