dose anybody know how to make GENES ageing varnish? he says the recepie in his turitorials but i cant make out the ingredients the acsent! i am not used to it!! it works great and it dosent leave a glosy finish!!!
i've goten this ageing varnish made by lefranc et bourgeois from a art suply in greece but it leaves a glosy finish which is fine but genes finish is like a miracle!!it livens up the colors and yet at the same time it gives a perfect look to the carvings!

The ingredients he mentions are

1 quart Boiled Linseed Oil (BLO)
1/2 quart mineral spirits
1/2 tube Burnt Umber oil paint

He doesn't say how big a tube, so I'd suggest starting with a small amount, test it on a scrap of wood, and see how it looks when dry. You can add more burnt umber paint if needed to make it darker.

CAUTION: Boiled Linseed Oil is dangerous. A rag or paper towel with BLO on it can burst into flame spontaneously. One method of disposal is to put the rags/paper towels into a container and fill the container nearly full of water, then throw it all away. Read the label on the contain very carefully.
