Default Aniline dyes

Â* Â* Has anyone had experience in using aniline dyes, particularly on basswood? I would appreciate any advice on the pros or cons.
One of my concerns is if the dye is toxic. I remember using the chemical aniline in some lab procedures and there was all kinds of health warnings relating to the stuff. I was wondering if there is any relationship between the chemical and the dye. If any of the group has used it, are there any warnings listed on the containers? There may be little, or no connection to the two but maybe someone has some info. to share. Â*
