ok folks we have probably done this before but lets do it again. name the one tool whatever it may be that you cannot do without. the one tool that if it broke or got lost your carving would come to a halt until you got a new one. be specific with name brand and sizes. mine would be my ron wells carving knives with 2" blades or my flex-cut or denny 1/4" veiner. bart |

My favorite would be the "Ortel V gouge by Denny, and last week I got a new knife that is new to Denny he calls it the "Straight Pete",its a 23/4" blade.I also agree with Woodwhittler the Ron Wells is pretty awsome.

The Denny chip carver, real small one. I've broken the tip off once and had Rick fix it up for me. Now it's even smaller and I like better. I use it as my detail knife when I carve small items. Which is most of the time. Tom H

My brain!!!!! Well, what's left of it! Without it, There would be no carving! Next it is between my Denny veiner or Helvie knife. But then I have several of each and I would be carving anywyas. Yup, Me old brain has it 100 to 1 or is that 2. I know, Go back in tot my little world. I am well known there, Kinda of sorta!

Where did you see this new knife? I looked on Little Shavers and on Denny's sight and didn't see it mentioned....unless it is not referred to as the "Straight Pete". So what do you like about this knife? What is it best used for?

I use my Ron Wells knife a lot too! I thank Wayne Shinlever for introducing me to that one! I also have a homemade knife made by a guy with the last name Bose that is pretty sweet. It cuts really well! I also like my Ortel soft V...nice on beards and removed wood with ease! Blake |

it is funny how everyone has mentioned the knife being the first tool of choice, that shows you you cant do anything without a good bench knife no matter what size it is. bart |
