Default wrapping tool blades

Hello,

Does anyone know of a thread or have a suggestion on wrapping the blades on my carving chisels (like a wide gouge) so I don't get blisters on my left hand? When I push the handle with my right, my left gets sore from holding the bare blade. Ive tried smoothing the edges with a stone, and wearing gloves, but neither is a great solution for me.

Thanks,

Mike

Try wrapping it in that self-sticking tape that some of us use to protect our thumbs.

In Europe, many carvers wrap the upper chisel blade with cotton cord. It will make the diameter larger and give a soft comfortable grip to the chisel.

oooo..I have a roll of vet wrap that would work...good ideas guys. I also found some stuff at the fishing store called "rodwrap" its like the grip that spirals around the handle of a golf club, but it's for fishing rod handles. It's supposed to stick to itself as you wrap it. A little crazy glue to hold the ends and I'm in business!

thanks-
mike
