Hey Ya All, I just seen an infomercial for this and wondered if anyone knows anything about it or if anyone has seen or used it in person. How it performs, is it a good sharpener? Work Sharp. Thanks for any information you might be able to share. My hubby thought he might like it. Blessings, Tina aka teeburn

Funny you should mention this Tina, I just recently seen the tool at my local Sear's store, and they couldn't provide much inf on it, let alone a demo of it in use...I have seen a few posts on this forum about it, and as always, 50% love it & 50% hate it...don't sound like it is great for knives but for gouges, it looks like it would work...at Sear's there are 2 model's, 1 is 1750rpm's & the othere is 598rpm's....the 1750 model is about $100.00 and 187.00 for the slower speed, from my watching looks like the 1750 works for the carver in all of us, and the slower one is more of the woodworker in some of us, he he he he ...... do a search on the link above and you should be able to find more info on it, search WorkSharp....I guess to answer, I have not seen it in use, but it would be the benefit of the Scary Sharp with power to spin the paper...seems like a good idea to me...dennis

Hi Tina, I have the 1750 RPM machine, due to the speed and non reversibile, you can not do knives. You can do gouges and chisels with no chance of overheating. One thing I use it for all the time is plane blades and carpenter chisels. Hope this helps. Dave |

Dave, The 1750 version is about 99.00 here at local sears, do you know anything about the leather stropping wheel for it, I only seen or heard anything the leather strop on the 600rpm version, do you know if you can put it on the 1750?...and you could then power strop on the unit......I heard you can't use it for knives, although my local Woodcraft will swear by it!....Dennis

Not sure Dennis but I think the leather is only for the $200.00 machine, still won't work on knives, or just on one side of the knife :-) I bought some cheap palm tools at Harbor Freight to practice sharpening, it worked great, and also for my carpentry tools. I wish they made the darn thing reversibile. Dave |

I had talked to the owner of Chipping Away, he also claimed that you could sharpen knives on the slower machine, but could not strop. Dave |
