Default Whittlin jack knives

Kenny_S posted in a nother thread about whittlin jack carving knives. I was just curious about how well the knives were. I did a search for them and it apears that there is knives and chisels. Are the chisels worth it. I have one knife from whittlin jack. I guess it is the basic knife because they sold it one at a time not in a set, and it seams to me to be a pretty good knife. I was just curious about everyones view on them.

If you're looking for inexpensive carving tools, check Ebay. I bought several sets and misc. tools there. One set I use more then any is an old set of Millers Falls #106. I was just looking and there are several sets there now. I'm sure others will agree that Miller Falls are good tools!

I bought a 10 piece set of Whittlin' Jacks, including the chisles, but only because I like the basic bench knife and there were two in there plus four other knives, all of which were fair to middlin'. The chisles (?) are not worth the money, but the set was on sale and for the price of the set, the knives were a bargain.

The blades on all are stainless steel, come pretty well sharpened but need quite a bit of work to get them up to my standards.....they are there now, and even the chintzy (poorly designed) chisles have ben brought up to a functional level, but I'll not use them often.

It is a decent set for packing along, though.

Gun, I was not recommending them as being the best, but found Whittlin jacks a whole lot better than x=actos. For the money, i would rather have the Whittlin Jacks than x-actos. I have several different knives and each is good in their own right. Would I bid on the Whittlin Knives? Yes! Any day over the x-actos.
