Default Whittlin Jack dimensions for Bob L

that "whittlin Jack " looks hollow ground...didn't know they were, or did you do it?

they are hollow ground......that's one of the reasons they are so darn hard to get sharp. Once there is a good secondary bevel on them they hold up really well. They are also stainless...more sharpening difficulties. I still like 'em, though. My favorite roughing knives.

Thanks Al. The photo and the dimensions are perfect. Sorry I didn;t respond earlier tonight, but we just got power back a little while ago. It's tough carving in the dark. Now I gotta go find my fingers (just kidding!)

BTW--What's hollow ground? I've heard the term before, but I'm not sure what it means exactly.

the sides of the blade are ground concave instead of convex.

Thanks Al. That explains everything. I was wondering how to grind the concave shape to the knife. It's simpler than I thought.
