Good for detailing but I doubt seriously for hogging off wood.

Micro motors are strictly for detail work. Wonderful tool for detail, not much else.

Maybe that is why they call it a " Micro Motor Detail Carver",eh?
Have a little one they call an engraver from harbor freight(yeah I know) and have had it for a long time. works great but it isn't a Wecheer. Mostly I don't know the name brand because it is in Chineese or Yupeneese. just symbols on it. Kind of slanted when working with it though.

Thomp, I got one a sittin right here. Has a used dental burr in it. The only thing I have found it really useful for is ear holes on small animals. There's hardly enough power to polish your teeth....Detail work?...well.. very very fine detail work....maybe Tom H

Sounds like this little thing is a detailer only,

becuse i dont have a local woodcraft, im forced to buy things like this online then loose ant discount to S&H, or shop at harbor freight.
i have bought a $5.99 detailer from harbor freight as well like kenny mentioned., this is my second, i found the first one great for using with a wore down 3m puff for taking off fuzzies, a full sized puff is just too much for it to handle as well with cutting sawing, or sanding. just wish it had some speed control./// this cheepie from harbor freight dont have any quality at all, the normal bits are too long for the shaft bushings to control it has and it wobbles from the weight of being off centered or something simular so unless your using dental short shafted bits its terrible to control

tom dose the $25.00 wecheer have a speed control also dose it vibrate..? while using it. with long bits.

its nice to have something like this for popping a quick hole in something, or cleaning out the bottom cut in a place you just cant get a tool into.. and need a flat bottom in

this is a bit off topic or at least off thread, but I would like to find an electric motor about 500 rpm....I have a mandrell I want to hook up with those paper wheels but want a very slow motor.....anyone know where I can find one that slow that would work on a mandrel? thanks

Hi, the Wecheer Detail Carver is severly underpowered, even for a Detail Carver. I stumbled across some goodies on ebay yesterday. See:
http://cgi.ebay.com/wood-working-car...QQcmdZViewItem

It does not say Wecheer in the ad but it looks to be identical to the mid-size Wecheer carvers I have been using for about four years now (I have two of them). Mine can hog wood pretty good (better than the comparable Dremel I have), and has not given me a lick of trouble. It has the most limber flex shaft I have ever seen. I use them with variable speed foot pedals (obtained elsewhere) but this tool does have a variable speed dial.

It may not be what you are looking for but they are decent tools.

Looks like a good bargin bobt.
its at $19.00 and my bank card is being swopped out this week...

DAVE.

Look for them 5 wheel step pullies. pullys, mount one on a 1175 rpm motors and the other on the mandrell shaft attach the shaft to the base with pillow bearings, about $35.-40.00 at ace., i dont know the exact reduction, but using the small pully on the motor and large on the mandrell will sugnifficantly decrease the rpm and its substainable without ordering special parts or motors. you can get them at any ace hardware,
