Default Wecheer/Foredom

I recently obtained a Wecheer carving attachment for my Foredom. I've
only used it twice but it seems that the Wecheer handpiece becomes
warm to hot after using it for awhile. I take care not to "kink" the
shaft. For those of you who also have the same setup, is this "heating up" normal or do I have a handpiece that is malfunctioning? Thanks. Rob K.

Feel the shaft just behind the new hand piece. If it is hot there take the sheath off the shaft and grease the inner cable. I usually fill the gaps between the springs with a light grease. Fordom makes a lube for this. Do not use oil. It will run down the inside of the shaft and into the handpiece while your not using it. The next time you start it it will spray oil droplets all over you and your piece of wood.

Of the flexshaft RPC hand pieces the Wecheer appears to be the lightest duty. What Model motor, and speed control are you using ? You may consider running the rpm at 7500 or less APPX. 1/3 rev. up the dial. Still they are a fun little unit for light duty carving, and small pieces. The Foredom #50 is a step up from there, and the Flexcut SKX200 appears to be the living end hooked up to my TXH motor. Using a benchtop speed control, and good quality blades the Wecheer will hold up for quite awhile if you pay attention to the heat. If it still feels hot all you can really do is lower the speed. HTH ?
