Default WeCheer Cables

Hello,
I have a WeCheer power carver, and I'm generally pleased with it--use it pretty hard, but it seems to me I'm needing to replace the cable more frequently than I should need to. The "nib" on the drive end either wears off very soon or breaks off, even though I'm not jamming it or doing anything I'm aware of that should break it off or cause it to wear off prematurely. Another puzzle to me is why no lubrication in the shaft/inside the sheath, is recommended; I'm aware that wet lubricants would catch dust and gum up the works, but why not graphite? Sometimes the hand gets warm/hot in my hand after extended use. Anyone else have experiences like these or any answers or advice? Thanks.
Mike

Hi, I'm not familiar with the WeCheer power carver, but have had a lot of experience with the foredom power carver. The foredom cable is lubricated, the heat build up is not normal. Again, with the foredom the length of the cable protruding from the sheaf, is 3/4". More or less will make the hand piece heat. I'd suggest looking for your owners manual or google the wecheer power carver to find answers. Cheers.

Hmmmm...Foredom and others recommend lubing the shaft, not excessively, and you can find videos showing you how to do it. So that could be part of it. It is important to store the shaft in a manner that keeps it straight, such as hanging, rather than coiling it up to fit in a drawer. Kinks from storing or when using it could cause it. With rotary burrs, snagging it in an apron or shirt is an easy way to break the shaft, but I am not sure that that applies to recipricating carvers. Possibly exceeding the recommended rpms for those tools might cause it to fail? If none of these seem to apply, you probably need to lube it, would be my guess!

I have the WeCheer reciprocating attachment for my dremel. I haven't broke it, but it would get really hot! I emailed Wecheer and they said not to lube it but nothing else.
Anyway I found out from friends here that I had my RPM's to high.
I did end up lubing the shaft with some Dremel shaft lube, plus I re sharpened my gouges for it. Cuts good now!
I kind of think Wecheer likes to sell shafts because they say not to lube.I don't see what the difference is between shafts, a shaft is a shaft, no matter what brand it is- Dremel, Foredom, Mastercarver or Wecheer! All my power carving shafts get lubed every now and then.
