Default Vertical Log Stand / Holder ?

Hi Guys

Does anyone know how to make a device to hold logs so vertically so they can be cut down the middle ( with a chain saw ), or to cut the sides off, etc ? This would be useful to me for making wood blanks.

Thanks in advance for the help

Joey

You might consider something like a drum cradle...

Drum & Barrel | Trucks, Cradles & Dollies | Heavy Duty Drum Cradle - GlobalIndustrial.com

You could position the cradle to proximity of the log, some type of fastening clamp on the sides of the log to the cradle, stand it up????

Good idea Silver. Joey do you use Itunes? I know of a video podcast you might like to look at.

If the diameter of the log is big enough just cut it straight it should be fine that's what I do. If it is a skinny log I have used a few wood screws to attach a 2'x2' 3/4" plywood to the bottom.
