Default Re: Undercutting tools

The hooked skew is fantastic. I got the long handled one, it doesn't seem clumsy at all. So far it is working wonderfully for the purpose I go it, plus I have been using it for other shaping ect. I will probably buy the 15MM one as well. this is my first Ashley Isles tool, and I am impressed. I will post some pictures when i get some taken. I am just doing practice pieces of architectural carvings. I have three books of patrterns to practice with, but I am finding that this is very enjoyable (I have mostly been a figure carver). I find the harder woods dont need extra help in the undercutting department, but basswood and poplar do, I am working on a fairly small scale, so it may be easier to get the undercuts on larger pieces.
