I have some of the bigger ones. Quality is excellant and , yes, they are pricey. In my own opinion-- I think they are harder to sharpen. I think the steel they use is harder than some other good brands. But once they are sharp, they will hold the edge very well.

Love 'em! I have about 1/2 dozen full-size mallet tools, several micro's and a bench knife that I use frequently. They ARE more difficult to put a good edge on, but hold it well with regular stropping. I also use Pfeil, which seem pretty comparable.

I think Two Cherries are the best carving tools made. I took them along with many other brands I have too the local community collage. We gave them the old hardness test in the machine shop part of the collage. They had better temper than anyother I have. My old Buck Brothers came in second. Tested 9 brands. All top quality. None of them had a bad temper but some were not as hard. Due to the age of the tools I can not compair them to the new ones. None of the ones I tested had been over heated by regrinding.
If they hare harder to sharpen they are harder and will have a better temper. The only good carving tool is the one that works for you.

Who sells the Two Cherries small gouge set? I looked through all my catalogs and no one lists the small set.

Amazon has them. Is this what you are looking for. They are listed all over the web.

I was just about to list the site. I found palm goughes listed seperate. The following is the last place I know that has old stock Buck chisels. They no longer have the offset. They bought out unfinished stock and finshed them with handles. I guess I got one of the last sets several years ago. This is a good site. Always received my order on time.

Thanks FK and ChrisS! I think I am going to order 2 or 3 of the palm tools and give them a try.
