Default Twelve New Knives

Some people when they have time off from work go somewhere on vacation. I take the oportunity to spend a little time in my workshop. Here's a group photograph of the twelve knives that I was able to finish during this holiday break. I hope you like them. Stop by my Knife Gallery for a full description of each one.

The Old Stump: Knife Gallery

Let me know what you think.

Also, I need to give a big shout-out to Goody, who sent me a wonderful box full of some marvelous wood that I have turned into knife handles. There truly is a Santa Clause!!! Thanks Goody.

A real nice group Brandant. A pleasure to look at and probably a joy to use. Love the different wood species.

I'm not sure if I am happy or upset that Sean got there before me. I really like that flame figured wood. Brandant makes amazing tools and now I will have to order a couple in this wood too.
Enjoy your new knife and know that you have bought from the best of the best!

Glad the wood was usable. You have some beautiful knives there. I always say you just can't carve with an ugly knife!

The two Anna bought me for xmas finally got some use. Slight modification to the handles and they carve like a dream. The hex shape of the handle was forcing the blade to be at the same plane as the flat on handle. I do a lot of push cuts with my thumb and when i pushed the flat it rolled the blade upward. I do have an UN Orthodox way of carving. 15 minutes of sanding with a couple of grits an hour for the finish to dry and I was back in business.

My knives of choice and my everyday carvers have always been Cape Forge for the last 20 years.. Tom Ellis's knives made from straight razors glide through the wood as well as my Cape Forge and now Brandants knives have made my top three. I carve everyday sometimes 12 hours unless theres an appointment or household disaster My tools become an extension of my hand and it has to feel good to make it in my top three.

Glad you are enjoying making knives keep up the good work and if you run out of wood for handles let me know. (Annas really on me to get rid of some of the wod I have been hoarding

Nice job Brandant! You are pretty prolific with the blade smithing. I enjoy the nice appearance too. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Western rainbow red cedar that Brian shared with you. I got a few pieces of the same in the mail yesterday. I love a well made blade mounted in a pleasing to the eye handle!
