Glad you're happy with your tools, knowing how well Rick sharpened mine I'm not a bit surprised! Callynne

| | Re: Tools back from Rick in Seattle Now what kind of speachless would that be? "Wow, I'm so happy with his work, I can't find the words to express!" speachless or "Holy crap, look what he did to my tools!" kind of speachless!!!
I figure it's the first kind and she's happy with the results....but I could be wrong! Come on Nancy, tell us...get your voice back, or at least your typing fingers, we are dieing to know. Really, I'm curious to what he was able to achieve.

| | Re: Tools back from Rick in Seattle OMG
Nancy has super duper sharp tools
Lets hope she she does not cut a main artery or vein when carving now
Dr. Callynne better start practicing doing sutures
cause I got a feeling that Callynne will soon be doing house calls over to Nancy's
and doing sutures cause nancy might cut herself now that the tools are sharp |

| | Re: Tools back from Rick in Seattle Rick did such an incredible job on my tools I can hardly recognize them. I do think maybe he snuck a few new ones in the box to keep from touching some of that garbage I sent him.
They are so sharp I probably will cut myself. Oh, I think I do need help. I'm in danger!!
Callynne -- quick, send your husband !!!
.............................
Seriously, I am astonished at the way these tools look and work. I told Rick to just toss the ones that were beyond redemption -- I figured 50% -- and now I have too many to fit in the brand new tool rack I made from PVC.
What he did to some old knives is especially incredible. Rick -- did you put new blades in the old handles or simply (simply? lol) shorten the handle to expose more metal? |

| | Re: Tools back from Rick in Seattle Well Nancy, If you carved all those beautiful works on your site with dull and broken tools, I can't wait to see what you can do with sharp ones!!! I just went through your pictures again, and your work is amaizing. The Santa with the Doves and Santa with all the animals are beyond description.
All I can say is well done, and that doesn't come close!

| | Re: Tools back from Rick in Seattle Thank you Bob -- but you're just seeing PHOTOS.
I don't mind a bit selling those carvings to collectors for $1000 - $2000 +, but the thought of doing the little 2 x 2 x 3" tsunami block and CARVERS seeing it makes me sick to my stomach.
Think I could get by with sending in a photo of a block ? |

| | Re: Tools back from Rick in Seattle Nancy,
Three knives were too short to be useful; so I cut the handles back and reground the blades. I can only do that once; then we need to replace the blades.
A couple tools I reheat-treated because they had been used beyond the original hardened area.
I also reground the Diobsud into a "Drop point" for detail carving. |

Well since your tools will not fit in the new PVC rack you made
You can send me the rack
Looks like you are going to have to either make a new tool rack or get you a bigger tool box | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
