Thank you for suggesting Timberwolf bandsaw blades. We ordered the 1/4 inch with 4 tpi. Hubby went down to the barn and put the new blade on. He rushed back to the house and said " hun, you gotta see this".. LOL He was running 4x4s through there and claiming it was like "cutting butter".. So now I've got patterns on blocks and we'll be cutting out a few things this weekend. Including that Eagle bust for walking sticks thats in the new WCI. Thank you thank you. Marci. |

Calm down Marci. Play safe. Those blades DO cut a lot easier than regular blades and you can make some pretty tight turns, as you come out of the turn and head for a straight cut the wood will have a tendacy to shoot forward a bit. Aways know where your fingers are. Expierince speaking, Just call me shorty, lost the end of my thumb a few years back. Safety First, Goody

Thank you , I'll check into that Top Saver kit. I just read your post to hubby so he will know what I'm talking about I hope. Goody!! Good to see you again. I tried to post a 'hiya' to you on another post and it wouldnt go through. I believe it was the post of the huge Santa. Hubby sliced into his finger the long way a few years ago too. Nasty lookin cut.. he's a bit more careful now. This new big bandsaw has me a lil bit nervous so I let him do the cutting. The lil 9 inch one was mine but it finally kissed the dust. |

There is a very dangerous quirk about a bandsaw when thinking safety. Those big circular table saws SOUND dangerous as they whine away and snarl when eating wood, so they tend to get a LOT of respect. A bandsaw, on the other hand, just sits there and hummmms. Al |

Ditto the caution comments. I've been lucky to not hurt myself so far, but I worry more about my bandsaw than any other shop machine. Go to a supermarket and watch the butchers cut meat with a bandsaw! Scary how easily you could take off a body part. Don't leave it running when you're not using it; it's too quiet. Add a good work light so you can see what you're doing. Dust collection and a respirator are important, too. The sawdust is pretty fine, and it's not hitting you in the face as it does with some circular saws, but it's still there and easy to ignore until you start to suffer. A decent shop-vac will do a good job for most band saw work. Take care and enjoy; show us you work. Mike
