| | Re: Some tools I just finished sharpening Terrific work Rick...looks like a completely new set of tools for some lucky-son-of-a-gun.
BTW I had the opportunity today to see the knives you made for Colin...some sweet looking instruments...leaves a guy feeling envious of a fellow carvers tools. . .

| | Re: Some tools I just finished sharpening Ed,
It worked out to $2.50 per hour; not bad for something you enjoy doing.
Unless I take into account the cost of abrasives, electricity, oak for handles, etc. then it is probably closer to $1.25 per hour.
But hey, when you are out on strike, any pay is better than none at all.
O.G.,
It seems that most of the rusty tools come from the gulf coast area, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida; usually after a big storm.
Yes, Colin has some nice tools, he is one of the few carvers who has more tools than I do.

You would be surprised how many carvers buy tools on Ebay and send them to me to repair/sharpen. |

Absolutely beautiful work!! You not only practice the art of carving, you also practice the art of restoring and sharpening!
Your reputation is well deserved.

I hate to blow a good thing, but you should charge a "restoring" fee, seperate from sharpening! What an incredible contrast! Beautiful!

I absolutely agree with Wade!! You should definetly charge a "restoration fee" for restoring any tools that are not taken better care of. Don't know how you did it but they look brand new. That kind of craftsmanship deserves more than $2.50!! Anyone that let's tools get in that shape should have their butt kicked and pay the price for having them fixed. Maybe I'm too hard nosed but there is no reason for that kind of neglect.
End of rant. Excellent work.
