Default slow speed elec. motor

I would still like to find a slow speed motor for an arbor I have! Would like a 500rpm to 800rpm.....want to put a hard felt wheel on one side and a paper wheel on the other.....anyone know of anywhere to get one? small size is fine too!

Hi HO,
Have you looked into a DC motor? My husband put one on a grinder for me so I could vary the speed I used. And it's on a foot control so I have both hands free. Seems to be the cats meow.....

Hey Dave, try an pld floor scrubber motor. Go to a sweeper store and see if they have any out back. I think these motors are real slow. Tom H

check out ac/refrigeration repair shop's, there should be a good supply of blower motors,

small window a/c units have 110 motors most are 3 speed.
if the compressor goes out most folks just toss the whole unit
im not sure if there is standard speeds through the industry or if i just lucked up. mine is 800 on low speed, it wont pull a hard load, but just enough to hone...

Hi Dave.

I know what you want to do, but until you can find the motor, can you jerry-rig an arbor to go in a hand drill clamped down? I think the rpm would range from 550 on up. You can probably vary a variable speed to what you need. Just a thought....

Dave, have you checked Harbor Freight, they have a couple variable speed grinders. I think one is 3 inch and the other 6 inch ( not sure ). Can't beat their prices, don't know about the quality.

Just to follow up on the DC motor thing..... I looked at the brand on the grinder my husband set up for me and it is a K-Line brand. I didn't google it but you might check them out. It has a built in variable speed which is turned all the way up since it is plugged into a variable speed footpedal.... I have a felt wheel and a 3M wheel on it.
