Jesse, you are right about the inside radius cuts, however, all I'm doing is touching up the edge, being careful not to reshape it. A couple strokes with the diamond rod is all it takes, removing (I'd guess) less that a few microns. All it actually does is smooth out the rough spots, sort of like stropping a knife. A 1/4" ceramic sharpening rod will do even less removal of metal and give an even smoother final cut.

For badly nicked or really dull cutters, a pro sharpening or replacement is in order!

Al

Tried posting the picture in the other thread. I'll see if it works here.

I give up on trying to post pictures in threads. If you wanna look at the picture and please do visit this site: http://advanceddrugtesting.0catch.com/untitled.GIF

Ashby is there any online sites that sell that diamond wheel on a precision setup you where talking about. Just wanted to check it out and see what the cost of something like that is. Mayby I could afford it. Thanks for the reply as always. Jesse

Jesse,

Here is one. But so you know we use a 6*18 Surface grinder with a diamond cup wheel, attached. With a combination of 2 fixtures one for the base and one for the twist. There are a lot of places where you can send your cutters off and they will re-dress them. But I have to agree with AL. Unless your doing a lot of sharpening of carbide. It is possible to just buy diamond wheels to put on a off hand grinder, just know the limitations.

Ash
