Default ScrollSaw Brand ID

PLEASE HELP!

OK All, anyone know of this brand 'Powerline' by Machine Tools Taiwan (1985).
I bought this one at a garage sale over the weekend. OK stop laughing, seriously the thing runs great and with a new saw blade cuts really well.
It's a basic unit all cast, no speed control On/Off only, no blower vac which would be nice. I've learned that an Aquarium pump with plastic tubing would work. Sounds good to me....I'm thinking also about buying a foot feed.

I've looked on the Internet for this brand, with no success so far. No brochure came with the ScrollSaw. Also, left a query in the Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board too.

Here is some info and an image:

Powerline by Machine Tools 1995 Taiwan
Motor: Rexon
HP: 1/8
AMPS: 2.2
RPM: 1650
Class: A

Any ID help you can give would be great.
Thank you,
Kathy

Kathy that is a Taiwan import that is made under many different names. You can find the same saw with a dozen different tags on it. I believe Grizzly has on based on that unit as well. Hey if it works it works. Glad it's working for you!

I used to have a Ryobi just like it except it was that blue/gray color. It vibrated quite a bit until I bolted it down. It was not too bad of a saw for the money.

Corey, RonT and BobT--hey thanks guys appreciate your thoughts. I know hubby mentioned that might be the case.

RonT, LOL Hammer hey I'm a carver gal, but the scroll saw sure is fun. It'll be great for those small cutting jobs. I must say intarsia sure facinates me, I love the idea of using different colors of wood to create a piece. There is a Bull Elk on the front cover of ScrollSaw Magazine that is just beautiful!

Thanks again,
Kathy

Kathy: The guys are right there are many versions of that saw put out by various companys. They each have minor differences bit if it works well, use it and enjoy it. My Delta 16 varible speed looks simular and could likely have came from the same facotory. One thing that can really improve the saw is to add mass to dampen vibration. If you build a box to mount it to and add 20-30 lbs of sand(available at the homecenter for a few bucks) to the box it will help a lot. I intend to do that for my little 16" Delta.

One of the guys in the other thread said he used the scrollsaw because it required little or no sanding of the cuts. Quality blades will make all the difference in the world with these.

Thank YouCorey, thanks I found a Grizzly simular to mine, newer and it has blower unlike mine. Even had a down load-able manual so I printed it.
Thank again,
Kathy

Hi Jim, thank you too, I have a pretty good size worktable and I think hubby wants to mount it to the table. Thank you for sharing your box idea, will pass it along to hubby too. It's true I cut some small ornament size eagle and santa that will convert to pins. It cut them so smooth I couldn't believe it. I was impressed.

Oh yeah, now it is coming back to me. The blower. Mine got old and cracked and nobody had a part. I used a $5 aquarium air pump. It worked great.
