Default scorps

In carving the bowls of spoons, I use the flex-cut brand of scorps and love them, but I am looking for scorps with more width in the blade. I have searched and can't seem to find anything else. The closest I came was Cariboo blades. I am not sure that is exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone know of any sources of scorps?

If you find a Tack Shop (Horse Shoeing Supply) look for a hook knife, there are different styles, & when sharpened up, work great & cheaper.

This will just give you & idea of shapes

Well, he said he wanted more width.
If it is a shallow spoon, the one hander might work out in a cross grain orientation.

The Swedish one is pretty cool, but oh so hard to justify.

If you have never made a homemade knife , this would be a good one. You could tailor it to what you need, and defiantly cheaper. But use care once you make ONE, most get hooked on making other tools.
I have one a friend who made me one , and i really like using it.

P.S. He's the same person who got me making my own knives, & I'm defiantly hooked (GRIN)

I like those Frost hook knives with the spine in the blade; looks like you could put some muscle into it (which you can't with a lot of bent knives, though the Cariboo mentioned earlier is a major exception).

Lee Valley carries three sizes of scorps. Take a look at their online catalog to see them.
