Default For Rick-in-Seattle: Stropping ??

Rick,

Is it better to have a seperate strop dedicated just for knifes? On mine I've stropped all my tools, but I'm wondering that my surface area on the strop becomes wavey from chiesles, which I'm thinking is not a good surface to get a real good strop off of for my knives.

I'm thinking that I should have a "Knive Only" strop in by tools box too!

Your thoughts and direction appreciated.

Bill,
I subscribe to the theory that "If you believe you need it, you do".

Normally the leather is thin enough that it doesn't retain the grooves from stropping gouges.

If yours is, then it may be time to add another or replace the one you have.

Rick

Thanks Rick,

Mine is not worn out, but I believe I want to have a knive only strop, which I guess will make me happy.

Again thanks, Bill

Bill and Rick.
I understand where you are coming from and have several strops of various sizes. I too, Thought, one for the knives and one for the gouges and one for the v tools and one for................ The little bride asked one day, " how many strops or thingies do you use at one time"?
She asked the same question on my collecting rifles pistols and shotguns and I answered her they same way with the same answer," As many as it takes".
She left muddering to herself, The man has two hands and two eyes and can only fire one gun at a time. This time, she just stood there and said,"How many hands will it take to use every strop you have". Well, If the whole family is here, then that shopuld be about enough!
Never seen that "dang Club" a coming.

I didn't see her for a couple of days till the swelling went down in both eyes.

I have several strops but seems when I do strop my tools, I use the same strop on all my tools.

However, I am a firm believer on having strops as I do guns and knives.

A man can't have enough!
